Stocking Stuffer - EOS cards

To attach the EOS, you need to open it, put the back through the back, and then put the lid on the top front. This all started when I saw these: https://www.theidearoom.net/eos-christmas-gift/ But those are all printables, and then you cut them out by hand, cut the circle out by hand... I didn't spend all of this money on a cricut to cut things out by hand.  :-) So I went looking for options.  And found a zillion ideas on pinterest, with links that do not work.  There went a good hour of my morning.  So I gave up and decided to figure out how to do this on my own - it couldn't be that hard, right?  Right.  it's not hard at all.  There are lots of free svgs that will work for this, basically you just have to slice a circle out of them. I started with the basic reindeer silhouette svg  found here . Upload it into design space, unlocked it, and resized it to 5.034x4.804 - making it slightly thinner than the original, to better frame the round ...

Cricut - Flannel Blankets

Update - I posted this on a couple of cricut forums and someone made this comment: "I’ve read that a lot of people recommend to use flocked or glitter htv. Something about the regular htv shows the “fuzzy” texture too much through it and it wrinkles. " I started with the popular red truck graphic.  I ungrouped it, removed the tree, and then chose attach, to make it all one color.  To add the name underneath, I went to my cheat sheet of favorite fonts and chose Dk Jambo. Then I selected all and flipped it horizontally. I measured the corner of the blanket and decided to resize the image to about 5x3. For my first one, I used the silicone pad under the blanket, and parchment paper on top.  I had my iron between wool and cotton.  That's a little too warm - I moved it back to before the wool setting for the rest.   And still, every one, when I pulled back the plastic looked like this: I put parchment paper over the top, and pressed for about 5 seconds at a time...

Christmas Pillows - Layering HTV

My daughter in laws asked for some throw pillows for Christmas, and I wanted a few for myself here as well.  I have more to make, but the first two designs are done, and I love how they turned out! The Red Truck svg is free here: http://caluyadesign.com/old-truck-christmas-tree-free-svg.html Ungroup, and hide the Noel.  I added our last name in the Bromello font https://www.dafont.com/bromello.font I did not use the white circles - I liked it better without them. Don't forget to reverse your design before cutting!  I use select all and flip horizontal rather than using mirror - because that way I am sure it is all done before I start cutting. I use a plain old iron (literally old - probably 80s model - I bought a couple of good old heavy irons at the thrift store, and love them.  ) a silicone baking mat, and a pillow case.  I sew my own pillow cases - details are here (and it's SUPER easy - a great beginners sewing project)  First I ironed the pillow case, ...

Decorating Soap Dispensers With Cricut

These dispensers are all from the Dollar Tree.  I spray painted a bunch of them, using Rustoleum spray paint, because I wanted more of the off white, and my store didn't have them.  My mom then saw that I was making these, and ordered me an entire case - so I now have 3 green, 3 blue, 3 yellow, and 3 white that I want to come up with designs for..  all of the green will be grinches, they have been very popular. I used 651 vinyl.  I buy it in bulk on Amazon -  You can choose 6 different rolls, you chose the colors, for $21.50 here:  http://amzn.to/2ClMK4I , or FIFTEEN rolls, you choose the colors, for $35 here -  http://amzn.to/2DL3778 .   These are the designs I used for these (I'll break down the fonts and designs used below) Keep Calm & Copper Boom A Gilmore Girls reference I found this on google and cleaned it up in design space, for my daughters dorm room. Wash Your Hands & Say Your Prayers I bought this design on Apex.  I wo...

Gilmore Girls Ornaments

I found this little glitter tree at Michaels this year.  Be prepared - it's really a glitter tree.  I think you could follow my exact path around Michaels simply by following the glitter..  and after putting it up, everything nearby had a fine coat of glitter on it...  I don't care.  It's my laundry room, it's Christmas , and I LOVE this tree. The ornaments I started with are from Michaels I think.  Maybe Wal-mart.  They were already glittered - and they were cheap. Although it's SO easy, and fun, to make your own glitter ornaments, white glitter is hard, and I think, if I remember correctly, these were cheaper than the clear ornaments. Below I describe the fonts and graphics used for each, and the show references for each. The Gilmore Girls font is thought to be Sackers Solid Antique Roman - and it can be found here:   http://fontsgeek.com/fonts/Solid-Antique-Roman-Regular This is one of my favorites.  I love how it turned out. Coffee C...

My Favorite Christmas Reads

I keep a list of books of Christmas themed books that I want to read, and as with my full to read list, it grows faster than I can possibly read. (Often my Christmas reading list introduces me to new series, which extends my general to read list... )  Looking back over my goodreads list, I have definitely made a dent over the years, these were some of my favorites.   Letters From Father Christmas by JRR Tolkien https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7331.Letters_from_Father_Christmas This is an amazing book that I own in hardcover, and I really recommend buying a copy.  It is absolutely wonderful. A collection of letters written by JRR Tolkein each year, for his children. " The letters were from Father Christmas.  They told wonderful tales of life at the North Pole: how the reindeer got loose and scattered presents everywhere; how the accident-prone North Polar Bear climbed the North Pole and fell through the roof of Father Christmas’s house; how he broke the Moon...

Which Apps & Websites To Use With Cricut -

This is not an app or website, but rather an extension that makes the thubnails of svgs appear as previews, and not just an html icon http://fieldsofhether.blogspot.com/2018/01/how-to-see-thumbnails-of-svg-files.html Want to identify a specific font? Use “what the font”.  Web   Android Apple What the font almost never works for me - but I have seen others get excellent results!  I think it depends on the font. WordMark.it Want to see what your saying will look like in various fonts? Use:r WordMarkIt Web THIS is my favorite site.  It makes it SO much faster to choose a font!! Want to place a watermark over your pics? Use: the app “snap seed”.  Android   Apple Want free fonts? Use: fontzillion or Dafont.com    (Do NOT add an S to Dafont.)  Remember that you do not open fonts in Design Space.  You install them to your computer, then design space can see all of your installed fonts.  Download file, unzip, find your computers font file...
