How to Make a Chalkboard Graphic

I'm going to assume you already have a basic knowledge of some sort of graphics program.  Gimp is free.  I use Paint Shop Pro - because I have used it for many years, and I lack the attention span (& budget!) to keep up with photoshop.

First, The Background.
  Thank you google image search....

These sites also offer free downloads -

Next The Fonts:

This site has links to all of the fonts on the poster above
(most of my favorites are on her list, so I didn't see any sense in replicating it. Plus, she did it better than I would have.)

I personally recommend going to Dafont and downloading just about everything ever created by Kimberly Geiswein.  I can't believe all of these gorgeous fonts are free.

Some of my favorites:

Installing new fonts is super easy.  In most cases, you can unzip them, open
Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Fonts
or in your windows start menu, search "fonts"
Then copy the fonts and paste them in the font folder
If you have a graphics program open, you'll probably have to close it and restart it for the new fonts to appear.
If you need more detailed instructions:

Then, The Dingbats:
All those banners & frames?  Even mustaches and animals, or cars, or whatever... they can be found in dingbat fonts.
I'd start with:

KG Flavor & Frames
That will give you all sorts of banners and buntings to work with

But the options are pretty endless.  Use google and search for things like "snowman dingbat font", etc.  KG has several varieties of frames. I've downloaded them all.

Those who are pretty serious about this stuff use software to organize their fonts, or they print them into a binder. Me? I google the dingbat font I'm using to remember which letter/number = which graphic.  Probably not the best way, but it really is the easiest.  :-)

Organize with Software:

Organize In a Binder:

The graphic above, for KG Flavor & frames, does not show all of the options - just a good sampling of them.

(Have I gone 10 minutes without mentioning that I have a gorgeous new grandson?  Let's rectify that quickly!!)

How To Use New Fonts In Phonto On Android

There are lots of apps to add fonts to android devices, but I really didn't want to add fonts to my android system.  I have a zillion fonts on my phone already.  What I wanted was to be able to use fonts like I love Glitter in Phonto.   Cliff Notes - Just add them to the fonts folder in the Phonto App.  Phonto has a "how to" for installing fonts on android, but it did not work for me.  This is what worked: My fonts are all backed up in dropbox. That makes this simple - but you could also send the font to your phone through email, and save to your downloads folder.   I just opened dropbox, went to the font, clicked on it, chose export/save to device, and saved to my downloads folder. Then I went to my downloads folder (Use "My Files" - in your app drawer. )  LONG click on the font.  If you just open it, you may get a message saying you do not have an app to pen this file.  You want to select the font, which you do by holding down on ...

Fonts With Tails (Glyphs) Cheat Sheet

Glyphs are extra characters in fonts.  For fonts like Samantha (a paid font - there is no free version) you have to use a character map to access the extra swirls. There are a few fonts, such as I Love Glitter, where you can quickly add swirls (nothing as ornate as Samantha, but still pretty!) just by adding a few characters such as * \ [ ] or ().  I call them "easy glyphs". Download all four of these cheat sheets as a pdf file, here.  If that link does not work (too much traffic) Try This One. Links to download each font are found under the photos. Dr Doolittle's Roadside Cafe & Creamery

The "Lower" Restaurant.  There's a second restaurant up the hill, right next to this. I originally saw this place on one of the many roadside PA facebook groups I follow.  I thought it would be a fun place to stop for lunch on our way to the ASPGB 2017 - and I was not disappointed. There's normally an amish buggy here, being pulled by either the dinosaur or Sasquatch - but it was missing when we were here.   I've seen photos of an alpaca and goats here..  near this barn area.  We didn't see them when we stopped, they might have all been inside? There's a lot of road noise if you eat outside, but we sat right at the front of the outdoor seating, not realizing that there was more outside seating behind the walk up counter.  Just go back past the party barn, and you can sit between the train cars below, and the back of the lower restaurant. There are train cars everywhere you turn... I really wanted to play mini golf - but we didn't have time, and I'm...
