How To See Thumbnails Of SVG Files

The Cliff Notes Version - Use the svg viewer extension found here:
https://code.google.com/archive/p/svg-explorer-extension/downloads

I use a laptop running Windows 10, so my screenshots are based on that operating system, with chrome as my default browser.

This has been driving me nuts since I first started working with my cricut machine earlier this fall.  My laptop displayed the thumbnails of svg files as Chrome icons (Chrome is my default web browser) and to see the file, I had to open it.  I really wanted to be able to browse through my collection of downloaded svgs, without opening each one.

A few google searches finally took me to an SVG viewer extension.
The very top one will work for most of you - if you are running Windows 10

If you don't know if you are running 32bit or 64 bit, go to Control Panel (in your start menu, choose windows system, control panel will be in there) and click on System & Secrurity:
Next choose "View The Amount Of Ram & Processor Speed"

And your answer will be under system - see system type?  Mine says 64 bit operating system, x64 based processor.
So I go to https://code.google.com/archive/p/svg-explorer-extension/downloads and download the 64 bit option.  This will download as an exe file.  Click on it to run it, follow the prompts.

And Voila -

For my downloads folder, this was immediate - I didn't have to do anything else, once it was installed, I saw previews!  For my Dropbox folder (I back up all of my svg files and fonts in dropbox - sorted in folders by theme.  That way when I do something stupid like break my laptop, I still have access to everything on my new laptop... ) I had to restart my computer.

You may need to change your view settings - at the top left of the screen - to "icons" if you are  currently viewing in detail or list.

The 51 states  SVG collection is free here - http://caluyadesign.com/freebie-gallery.html
I used it as an example simply because it was the first folder in my files.  :-)
All of my favorite places to find free svg files can be found here:

How to Solve The Geocaching August Souvenir Puzzle #1

In August 2016, Geocaching is doing a series of souvenirs based on "missions" premium members receive as puzzles the week before the mission.  Non premium members just receive the answer the weekend of the mission.   The first puzzle was VERY simple, so simple that many were overthinking it. The bottom of the first plate gives you the hint to solve this - "A six is G" A= 6 letters after A = ABCDEF G C= 2 letters after C = CD E N= 1 letter after N = N O Continuing with the next 3 plates until you have the code to type into the page linked in the email, where the mission was revealed.  The answer had to be entered completely in lower case, I think that may have been more confusing than the actual puzzle. :-) On the 3rd plate, for W6 - you go back to the start of the alphabet.  So it was WXYZAB C If you completed the mission, finding a cache with more than 10 favorite points that week-end, you received this souvenir: For us, this meant traveling a bit, since we've ...

Fonts With Tails (Glyphs) Cheat Sheet

Glyphs are extra characters in fonts.  For fonts like Samantha (a paid font - there is no free version) you have to use a character map to access the extra swirls. There are a few fonts, such as I Love Glitter, where you can quickly add swirls (nothing as ornate as Samantha, but still pretty!) just by adding a few characters such as * \ [ ] or ().  I call them "easy glyphs". Download all four of these cheat sheets as a pdf file, here.  If that link does not work (too much traffic) Try This One. Links to download each font are found under the photos. Visiting Geocaching HQ, & The Fremont Geocaches

https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/hq We were able to visit Geocaching Headquarters, and complete the HQ geotour, while in Washington this year. Each of these geocaches is well thought out, and well done.  This is all urban caching, but geocaching is so common and familiar in this area that muggles are not really a problem.  The first cache we did was so obvious, it was near impossible to show any true stealth.  But like the WVTim caches in West Virginia, it just wasn't really necessary to hide what we were doing. The passport for the caches can be found here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/b1b051c4-3050-43ef-adb6-61c27f2fadd6.png We did not have the passport with us, and we didn't have access to a printer.  Neither did another group we ran into several times that day.  That was no problem, we both used paper we had with us and groundspeak had no trouble accepting that from us. The caches are all pretty close together.  But the hills are prett...
