What is an intercache?   It's very similar to a Wherigo, but with a smoother interface, and no cartridge to download. From the intercaching website:   "An intercache is a new way of creating a mystery geocache, where you can string together a combination of virtual and physical waypoints together. The entire geocache can be developed, edited, and played on your mobile phone's browser with no software required to download!" We found our first intercache while in upper NY state for theAllegany State Park Geobash this May.  I always love wherigos, so I was anxious to check out this new intercache interface. And I love it. The first screen - we clicked on the arrow beside "location #1" to proceed. Unlike wherigos, there are no cartridges to download.  You simply click on the link, and follow the directions.  The one we did was in a cemetery.  It would tell us to go to certain coordinates (that arrow moves like a compass) and when you were in range, you would ans

I had originally left a lot of time in our schedule for this stop.  For some reason, I expected this to be a lot more of a hike. This is not a hike.  There is a paved, wheelchair accessible, path from the visitors center all the way out to the walkway.  There is another small walk to another observation area, and there are other paths, but you can see this very quickly and easily with no great athletic effort at all. Notice the two sets of tracks, one inside the other?  One of the signs explains that there are two sets like this in case the wind moved the train as it crossed - the train would catch the second set of tracks and keep going. It was breath taking.  I really wish we had gotten here before the storm destroyed the bridge, but I'm glad they have made it an area we can still visit. loved walking out on the bridge with the birds soaring right beside you.  At times I was looking at the tops of birds wings.  They were mostly vultures, but it was still really cool. This week-end we logged a lot of our finds "in the field", or quickly at Tim Horton's the next morning when we had cell signal.  We agreed that in the future, when caching in an area with no signal, we will log all of our finds as drafts and I'll edit and publish them when we get home.  But that's a live and learn moment, and we did not do that on this trip. We often forgot to hit the favorite button on our favorite caches.  I thought I was going to have to go back and rewrite the logs for all of the caches we wanted to give favorites to, and then I clicked the arrow beside the favorites tab on a cache, and saw I could just choose "add favorite" from the drop down menu. Map of All Of The State Parks In PA When the kids were young, before we moved to the farm, we started camping because it was really the only vacation we could afford.  After a few years we decided to make it our goal to visit every state park in Pa before the kids were grown. And then we bought the farm.  It's much harder to pick up and go camping when you have a farm!  And then there were the kids sports and activities as they got older.... we didn't reach our goal.  So we'll change the goal. :-) I still want to see all of the state parks in Pa, even if we can't take the kids (now all adults) along with us. The "Lower" Restaurant.  There's a second restaurant up the hill, right next to this. I originally saw this place on one of the many roadside PA facebook groups I follow.  I thought it would be a fun place to stop for lunch on our way to the ASPGB 2017 - and I was not disappointed. There's normally an amish buggy here, being pulled by either the dinosaur or Sasquatch - but it was missing when we were here.   I've seen photos of an alpaca and goats here..  near this barn area.  We didn't see them when we stopped, they might have all been inside? There's a lot of road noise if you eat outside, but we sat right at the front of the outdoor seating, not realizing that there was more outside seating behind the walk up counter.  Just go back past the party barn, and you can sit between the train cars below, and the back of the lower restaurant. Recently someone asked for advice for attending a geocaching event, as they did not want to be clueless when they arrived.  I think a lot of us feel that way when attending something new!  So these are my experiences, and a few tips.  I had forgotten how many awesome events we have attended over the past 10 years.  Not just geowoodstock, but a geocaching wedding.  A snake seminar, an amazing race, a haunted Mega, ASPGB 3 x (LOVE those night caches there!) a 20 mile bike ride that was an event, breakfast events...  so many fun events. Geocaching Events are gatherings of geocachers.
