 LONESTAR STEAK FRIES
Texas Roadhouse Copycat Recipe

Serves: 4

1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
6 potatoes (about 2-1/2 pounds), with skin on
2 tablespoons peanut oil

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine paprika, chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper. Seal bag and shake to mix.

Cut each potato in half then each half into 4 flat wedges. Add peanut oil and potatoes to seasoning in bag then close tightly and shake to coat well.  Spread potatoes in a single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet. Bake 20 to 22 minutes, or until fork-tender. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and serve immediately.

Notes: Sure, you can peel the potatoes if you want, but we like the extra crunchiness of the skin. Besides, the skin is good for us!

Tuesday - Taco Night
Set out as make your own.  Ingredients:
  • Tortilla Chips
  • Quesadillas
  • Seasoned ground beef
  • refried beans
  • salsa
  • guacamole
  • black beans
  • sour cream
Wednesday - Church Dinner

Thursday Night -  Pulled Pork, Roasted Potato Salad, Broccoli

Perfect Pulled Pork | Kevin & Amanda's Recipes
The recipe calls for soaking the pork in a brine, then coating it in a dry rub, and slow roasting it.

Dry Rub

1 tbsp ground cumin
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp ground pepper
1 tbsp paprika
1/2 cup brown sugar

Roasted Potato Salad
Toss the potato chunks in oil, then sprinkle liberally with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.  Roast.
I love to use Hickory Smoked Bacon - I bake that while the potatoes are roasting
Then it's best with home made mayo - but whatever you typically use to make your potato salad will work.

Friday Night - Football night - Eat Out/Calzones at home
For away games, we eat out in the town of the football game, but I'll make sticky buns for breakfast, calzones for lunch, with an extra calzone for my son and his friends to eat after the game, if they end up here.

This weeks restaurant -
Our favorite restaurant in Muncy is the Main Street Grill, but they take a long vacation each year, to visit greece, and do not reopen until September 10th.
So we're still deciding between Haywoods, and the Country Store Cafe.  I think we're leaning towards the Country Store right now - I love their soft pretzels.

Saturday - Soup & Sandwiches
Hungarian Mushroom Soup (From the freezer)
Leftover pulled pork sandwiches
coleslaw

Sunday - Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings - stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls

How to Solve The Geocaching August Souvenir Puzzle #1

In August 2016, Geocaching is doing a series of souvenirs based on "missions" premium members receive as puzzles the week before the mission.  Non premium members just receive the answer the weekend of the mission.   The first puzzle was VERY simple, so simple that many were overthinking it. The bottom of the first plate gives you the hint to solve this - "A six is G" A= 6 letters after A = ABCDEF G C= 2 letters after C = CD E N= 1 letter after N = N O Continuing with the next 3 plates until you have the code to type into the page linked in the email, where the mission was revealed.  The answer had to be entered completely in lower case, I think that may have been more confusing than the actual puzzle. :-) On the 3rd plate, for W6 - you go back to the start of the alphabet.  So it was WXYZAB C If you completed the mission, finding a cache with more than 10 favorite points that week-end, you received this souvenir: For us, this meant traveling a bit, since we've ...

Fonts With Tails (Glyphs) Cheat Sheet

Glyphs are extra characters in fonts.  For fonts like Samantha (a paid font - there is no free version) you have to use a character map to access the extra swirls. There are a few fonts, such as I Love Glitter, where you can quickly add swirls (nothing as ornate as Samantha, but still pretty!) just by adding a few characters such as * \ [ ] or ().  I call them "easy glyphs". Download all four of these cheat sheets as a pdf file, here.  If that link does not work (too much traffic) Try This One. Links to download each font are found under the photos. Visiting Geocaching HQ, & The Fremont Geocaches

https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/hq We were able to visit Geocaching Headquarters, and complete the HQ geotour, while in Washington this year. Each of these geocaches is well thought out, and well done.  This is all urban caching, but geocaching is so common and familiar in this area that muggles are not really a problem.  The first cache we did was so obvious, it was near impossible to show any true stealth.  But like the WVTim caches in West Virginia, it just wasn't really necessary to hide what we were doing. The passport for the caches can be found here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/b1b051c4-3050-43ef-adb6-61c27f2fadd6.png We did not have the passport with us, and we didn't have access to a printer.  Neither did another group we ran into several times that day.  That was no problem, we both used paper we had with us and groundspeak had no trouble accepting that from us. The caches are all pretty close together.  But the hills are prett...
